VOLUNTEER
Volunteers are essential to the success of VCRA. Do you have free time? Do you have skills or know a trade that might be beneficial?
Volunteers personnel staff our lobby full time Monday thru Friday and also assist with our three major events each year: Walk for Life in May, Pride in August, and the Community Service Awards banquet in December. In addition, periodic special projects arise throughout the year that require additional help. Other opportunities include:
Youth Mentors -The Youth Empowerment Program seeks volunteers who are good with youth for Friday night games, conversation groups, and other activity. Must have valid driver license and willing to submit for a background check. Contact info@lgbtventura.org
Food Pantry - Help shop for and bag groceries. Great rewarding work with a fun, energetic team. No experience required. Week day hours vary. Contact martin@lgbtventura.org.
Syringe Replacement - 12 Step recovering person w/ min. 10 yrs clean OR person with street/drug experience who can handle an environment with using addicts. This person will work at a syringe replacement site, exchanging needles, handling referrals and attempting some intervention, education and treatment for intravenous drug users. Phones/Office help - Do you have a good phone voice? Good with people? Volunteers needed to answer phones and help callers get information about LGBT resources in Ventura County. Morning, afternoon, and evening shifts available week days. Basic computer skills [Word, Excel] required. Contact jay@lgbtventura.org
